Pontech Inc. is pleased to announce that we have participated as a development partner in the Web3-based “Kaiwai” marketing solution jointly developed by Hakuhodo Key3 Inc. (hereinafter “Hakuhodo Key3”) and Hakuhodo Inc. (hereinafter “Hakuhodo”), and have supported the release of a demo site called the “Kaiwai-Limited E-Commerce Site,” which utilizes the Web Proof (zkTLS) technology. This solution offers a new purchasing experience in which only users who can prove they belong to a specific community (“Kaiwai”) are able to buy certain products or services.

About the Kaiwai-Limited E-Commerce Site

The published demo site grants access to product purchase pages only to users who satisfy one of the following three conditions:

Crypto Asset Kaiwai
- Prove that you have more than USD 100 (valuation) in assets in your Binance Japan account.
“Furo Cancel” Kaiwai
- Prove that you have a tweet on X (formerly Twitter) containing the term “風呂キャン” (furo-cancel refers to people who find taking a daily bath bothersome and choose to skip it.).
Generative AI Kaiwai
- Prove that you are subscribed to the ChatGPT Plus or Pro plan.

By leveraging the zkTLS technology provided by zkPass, these proofs can be performed securely within the user’s permitted scope. The proof data is preserved in a verifiable format, greatly reducing the risk of excessive personal information exposure compared to conventional methods such as screenshots or API disclosures.

zkTLS (Web Proof) as a New Form of Data Collaboration

Pontech regards zkTLS (Web Proof) as a “new type of data collaboration platform that places data sovereignty in the hands of the user.” Traditionally, data collaboration of this kind would require APIs to be made public by the platform side or negotiations and agreements between companies. However, for small businesses or individual developers, this barrier can be high. Additionally, from a user’s perspective, data is often held by the platform and cannot be used portably.

With zkTLS, users can selectively and securely prove and share the data they possess. This is expected to usher in a new ecosystem in which users themselves have data sovereignty. By transcending platform constraints and enabling “portable” data collaboration that individuals can control, zkTLS aims to open the door to a wide variety of use cases.

Why We Started with an E-Commerce Site

Pontech believes it is important for people to recognize that zkTLS does not rely solely on blockchain technology. In fact, it can generate and verify proofs entirely off-chain, making it applicable to a broad range of use cases beyond blockchain-based solutions. That said, zkTLS is not yet fully “battle-tested” in practice. Jumping directly into a service handling large sums of money would carry significant risk. Therefore, we selected E-Commerce sites—which tend to have lower implementation hurdles and are run by numerous businesses—as an entry point for demos and small-scale trials.

Furthermore, adding an element of “Kaiwai exclusivity” or “a sense of specialness” can help E-Commerce businesses differentiate themselves and enhance their customer experience. Through this initiative, we plan to accumulate know-how and, together with Hakuhodo, explore larger-scale services and expand into other industries in the future.
